Chosen for our themed garden to represent Grandpa Joe, who accompanied Charlie to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Incidentally, Grandma Josephine is also represented by Clematis "Josephine", which is now budding. A perfect couple, now well settled in their bed! :-)

If I remember Grandma was in bed all the time in the film, lol.and this clematis is perfect for Grandpa, its very fragile looking but with a cheerful face........

Arlene, I remembered you were going to the show. £3, an absolute bargain - good for you! :-)

Yes, Lincslass, in fact, all 4 Grandparents were so old and frail that they stayed in bed all the time. Grandpa Joe and wife Grandma Joesephine, with Grandpa George and Grandma Georgina. It was Grandpa Joe who suddenly leaped out of bed and danced round the room when Charlie found the last Golden Ticket, and went with him. We now have plants to represent all four of them in our "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" themed garden, and a bed in which to plant them, lol! - amazing! (but more of this later)............. :-)

Very clever David. Joe and Josephine, George and Georgina, brilliant!

Hi Greenfingers!

I'd really quite like to see the Clematis "Joe and "Josephine" clambering up the springs of an old bed base, as a quirky touch. :-) grandpa George is our iris reticulata "George" now, sadly, on its way out (but only to sleep till next Spring. :-) As for Grandma Georgina, she is still to appear, and herein lies an unexpected twist in a tale (wow, sounds like something else by Roald Dahl), but this has to wait till Summer. :-)

Ooooo sounds exciting David, can't wait for the next installment! Have you anything to represent the golden tickets?

Hmmmmm, Sewingkilla!

Golden tickets, eh? Have plans for creating my own, but, plantwise, so much to choose from! Look out for names such as "Lucky Gold", "Jackpot", Golden Joy", "All Gold"," "Gold Rush" etc., as the season progresses.

Am also in the midst, with the kids, of creating a newspaper frontpage with the headline news of Willy Wonka's golden ticket launch (never a dull minute here, :-) )

You're all obviously having great fun with your chocolate themed garden. My theme for my garden would be slimy slugs n snails at the moment, but who wants them in their garden? My shed is brimming with plants ready to go out but I'm afraid those pests will munch on them and I'll have nothing left. With rain forecast for the next cuple of days it would be snail Heaven! I'm not going to chance putting them out yet, I'll have to exercise my patience a bit longer!

What a fab idea about the old bedsprings, Josephine will be made to feel 'at home' there.
Hope George enjoys his sleep.
