This is a pale lavender colour - the palest G. phaeum I have.

It was a pressy from my friend, as well! :-)

Lovely photo and I can even see evidence of the rain you have been suffering.

I got my feet wet...again, as my husband can't get the 'lawns' cut! They are starting to resemble fields...maybe I should borrow our farmer-next-door's sheep for a while!

Just make sure that they can differentiate between grass and flowers. I suppose Henry could supervise as he seems to know.

Very arty with the rain on though...........

LOL - I didn't mean it to be, Dd! But thanks!
15 May, 2009
does this come true from seed or does it 'mix' with the other G.phaeum's you have?
pretty flower non the less.

No idea yet - it was another pressy from my friend up the lane! She knows I like geraniums. She is running the plant stall on the open days.
17 May, 2009
oh Spritz this is beautiful! if you ever get any seed...... xxxxxx :D

This looks lovely - I'm learning so much too. I feel a bit silly - I always through geraniums were pink bedding plants that everyone used (avoided them because of it). I'm a reformed character and away to look these up on the internet.
21 May, 2009
Don't feel silly, Evy, I am quite sure that a lot of people think of geraniums as the bedding type... those are really called 'pelargoniums'.
Hardy geraniums are wonderful to have in the garden - there are so many types!

Mmm...like this one...gone to faves.
19 Jan, 2011
Ha - you said you weren't going to look at my geraniums! lol.
20 Jan, 2011
lol...very boring evening yesterday B....football game again!! Today I sowed my seed of mixed HGers. 24 seeds....it will be interesting to see what comes out of it! If I get lots, I'll send you a nice one!
20 Jan, 2011
Thank you, Karen! That's something to look forward to. :-)
21 Jan, 2011
I've just realised this is a phaeum I already have isn't it...just a different spelling or translation of 'blauwvoet' which is what mine is called! I thought it was a very similar colour! lol.....
22 Jan, 2011
Oh well - that's one less to buy. lol.
22 Jan, 2011
Yay....five pounds saved, just like that!
23 Jan, 2011
'Braun' means brown, and 'Blau' means blue, though - so I'm a bit puzzled. I'll have a browse in my Geranium books and see if they are the same.
23 Jan, 2011
Thanks Barbara! If not, I will have to have it! Phaeums are so valuable in my shady places!
23 Jan, 2011
I'm none the wiser, Karen. Sorry - None of my three books mentioned either name. I tried a bit of googling - no luck there. My friend is so good with labelling all her plants, I can't imagine that she'd get the name wrong.
24 Jan, 2011
Not to worry....we will get to the bottom of it eventually I bet!
24 Jan, 2011
I'll try to see my friend and take the two names.
24 Jan, 2011
Well, it's a pretty tricky name sin't it...I wouldn't be surprised if someone gave HER the wrong name perhaps.
24 Jan, 2011
That is possible - but she ran a Nursery for many years, so she's normally correct. She IDs plants for people!
26 Jan, 2011
Gosh, unlikely then!
26 Jan, 2011
The name was very clear on the label. My books only list a very few cultivars. I suspect there are lots.
27 Jan, 2011
I have the same books as you so no point me looking. I've googled and like you got nowhere, even tried translating...thought it might be finnish from one of my google results! I think we need to accept that there are two different vars. and that the names are just quite similar..until we can find out otherwise!
27 Jan, 2011
Well, here's my one....http://apps.rhs.org.uk/rhsplantfinder/pfregions.asp?ID=178558
They have 75 different phaeum on there, but yours doesn't seem to be listed..:( weird!
27 Jan, 2011
Don't blame me! ;-) I didn't write the label - and to be honest, what's in a name? I like it whatever it's called. :-)))
28 Jan, 2011
Yes, so do I! I still think it's the same plant and that yours is in a different language...but we'll probably never find it! I sowed some more seeds yesterday B. I'm so fed up of this winter now. Not too bad here though, cloudy and cold but the ground is workable.
29 Jan, 2011
The ground was frozen here - again - so nothing possible outside. Far too cold, anyway. :-(
29 Jan, 2011
Well, I got one island border tidied, and I put some algae killer on the sleepers as they were getting really green and slippery. That's almost half the autumn clear up done now! lol ....hopefully get it finished before spring!
29 Jan, 2011
Too cold to stay out here and the ground's frozen again! I just switched on the old propagator and pui two pots of dahlias in for some bottom heat.
Frost this morning, so it won't be any better today. :-(
30 Jan, 2011
Is it time to plant my new dahlia tubers then B?
30 Jan, 2011
Sorry, by 'plant' I mean put them in compost and start them off in the conservatory!
30 Jan, 2011
A bit early where you live, I'd have thought. I'd leave it for a few more weeks.
30 Jan, 2011
OK, thanks! x
30 Jan, 2011
do you still have this one B? have just uploaded a photo of something similar.
