These plants have leaves similar to banana leaves and the greener ones are used for food wraps in local cooking here

Maybe Heliconia illustris? I'll have to look in my comprehensive Heliconia book...and I'll see if I can find it.

Hi Panther and Delonix - would it be Heliconia Curtispatha? They have leaves that look so much like banana leaves.

WOW! What a beautiful Heliconia! I can't remember the species name, however, I've only rarely seen this species available for sale.
