It reminds me of brazil a lot! Everytime I see it here at nurseries I remember sunny afternoons at swimming pools in brazil!

One of my favourite plants Aleyna. I like they way it shows having a white backround...well done. I wish I could keep from year to year, but they die on me !!!

I'm not an expertise Louis, but i guess they would need some kind of shelter during a strong winter.
I have one here on my balcony and it blooms a few times during the year, but always get quite during the worst days in winter.

Aleyna:
It's amazing how quickly they bloom and grow once planted in the ground. I bet they can grow to more than 60 feet / 20 meters high on a tree or palm like here. They also grow to huge mounds along the freeways here.

Delonix,
One of my best memories from California trips are those bougainvilleas along the roads, colorful, and all kind of colors from pale rose to strong orange and red...Cabrillo Hwy.
Also, you can see them hanging fom the fences and houses walls... its amazing!

Aleyna:
Yes, Bougainvillea is probably in the top 5 most widely grown vine in California (low elevation). They grow very quickly and bloom all year and don't need any water...which is a good combination.
Are they widely grown where you live? I know Bougainvillea species are native to Brazil.

HI Delonix,
Yes, they grow here everywhere, and bloom from season to season....although some colors are more common to summer, others to winter.
The purple ones are more common to summer season, and are very strong.
They are called Tres Marias (three Maries, because the shape of their flowers).

Aleyna:
I figured such...since they are native to Brazil. : > ) The purple bougainvillea is the true species spectabilis which most of the hybrids were created from.
