Watch out, I may come round and break the netting to get at them too. Ha ha. Are they all that determined then? Little monkeys - I guess we all love strawberries!!

Dawn the squirrels are so cheeky they tear the netting steal the strawberries and then sit on the fence with their little hands full stuffing them in as fast as they can .. :o( once the net is torn the birds take over , the problem with them is that they then find it difficult to find their way out , we have to go in and chase them out , sometimes they have been trapped in there all day if we are out for the day .. it,s a battle to see who gets what .... Lol .....

I would imagine the blackbirds are the worst ones, they've been caught in the netting over my raspberries before. Naughty, naughty squirrels. Looks like you need a metal cage. That's the only downside with growing fruit and veg isnt it, everyone wants it! But nothing nicer than your home grown stuff.

If you only have some it,s worth it Dawn , you can,t beat the taste of your own when you pick it fresh ,
Have you tried making Gooseberry Jelly , it,s good with cold meat and chicken , surprisingly it come out red , a lovely red wine colour :o) we use it instead of Cranberry Jelly !

I've only used the gooseberries in pies Amy - I actually like to eat them straight from the plant. The Gooseberry Jelly sounds great, maybe one day when I get time I could try making some :) I love talking to Milky about her veg plot, it reminds me of when I was a child as my Dad grew everything, it was brilliant!
