Geranium x cantabrigiense 'St Ola'

Geranium x cantabrigiense 'St Ola' (Geranium x cantabrigiense)

This looks to me slightly different to 'Biokovo' - but I'm not sure of its name - Bonkersbon thinks it may be 'St Ola'

Yes - but I am very puzzled as to its name, Milky! My RHS 'Geranium' book is no help on this one. :-(

Well Spritz .. Cantanbria a region of Italy where this first identified.

Really? I thought it was named after Cambridge - their Roman name is Cantabrig....something...can't remember...

Anyway, BB - that interesting aside does NOT help me to name the cultivar!!!! Please get back to your duties as plant namer-in-chief! ;-)

By the way, We've been on holiday to Cantabria. Lovely area.

On a more serious note then there is a variety called St.Ola that is difficult to distinguish from Biokova slighty paler I believe.. as for Cambridge sure you re right but then who named it those Romans got a lot to answer for ...as for naming plants I guess a lot lol

Right, Sir - this is now officially renamed 'St Ola'. Thanks BB! I shall edit it.

Well hope you checked it Spritz as so similar to Biokovo - would hate one of those knowledgeable visitors saying and who exactly told you that !

You have probably figured this out by now, but I think it is Geranium macrorrhizum 'Lohfelden'. The leaves are scented and there are very faint pink veins on the petals and the calyces are deep dusky pink.

Thanks for the thought, but I don't think so, because the leaves are wrong for a macrorrhizum. The leaves on this plant are smaller, lobed and definitely not scented. (I actually dislike the scent of my G. macrorrhizums!)

Oh, and I should have said 'Welcome to GoY'. Nice to meet a fellow Geranium nut! lol.
