Does the yellow Iris add or subtract?? Any comments?

What a lovely scene to return to! I really love the iris there. Breaks a more monochrome color scheme. Really adds to the center interest of this photo as well as the structure of the lupinus in the back.

there are several of these iris out of shot along with a white iris too. they too are out of shot. but if i took the picture from the other angle you'd see the neighbouring houses. also out of shot is a brilliant white Libertia.
i will take other photo's to hopefully show these.

i'd like to take the credit but so many plants self sow especially the aquilegeas. i dig out lots and give even more away. in the winter i can see where the individual plants are and of course they are all so tiny in comparison. i have a helenium chelsea to move as it is being swamped by yet more delphiniums.

A true taste of summer. I can almost hear the bees! Lovely colours - and the yellow iris definitely 'adds'.

i love the irises, they are so regal. this bed makes me smile when ever i go past it.

Interesting comments on the fashion for 1 colour borders. I agree. One colour borders can be monotonous without the occasional 'lift'. Also, Seaburn, nature is often the best garden designer, I hear she is entering a garden in Chelsea next year!
