Patio pots - 2009

Who needs flowers? Heuchera foliage gives colour for months and the grass at the back is the evergreen hakonechloa macra 'Aureola'

I bought a Heuchera this year for the first time ever. I like the leaves but the flowers are disappionting. I think I'll cut them away and keep the lovely leaves on their own. My friend Beryl has one like the one you've got in the front. Is it Crem brulet ( Don't know the propper spelling )

It's Amber Waves. The only way I can get it through the winter is to put the pot in the cold frame - it doesn't like the wet

Great collection - love the foliage but I don't mind the flowers either. This does look good.

Hywel, in my opinion the flowers have no real significance and i too cut most of them off.
Key Lime Pie and another less greeny one (can't remember its name now!) both have pretty bright pink flower stalks and i keep those flowers but the purple leaved ones with their white/cream flower stalks i just cut off.
The foliage is definately the main attraction.

Creme Brulee, Caramel and Marmalade all have goldy/amber coloured foliage and are great for darker areas of the garden.
I think they're good useful plants and they're spread reaches 18" which makes them great for 'filling in'.
