Our native bee - The Blue Banded Bee (Amegilla pulchra)

The Blue-banded Bee has a golden brown head, and the abdomen is striped black and pale blue. It feeds on flowers, often blue coloured flowers - here it's feeding on the streptocarpus which is more of a purple.

Wow! Really nice looking bee, so different that what I'm used to seeing.

Tasteyg - this is our native bee and he is rather large. I do like to see them in amongst the flowers - we've had quite a few bees and butterflies lately.
