Lovely birds until they land in your pond and feast on your Koi Carp, I suppose! Fortunately, I don't have a pond so I can just admire them. Once, a couple of years ago, we noticed from our front room people looking up at our roof. When I investigated, ther was a Heron on top of the house. It looked huge!

They are handsome aren't they Deida..........and so graceful when they fly

We have a young one that is spending all its time on our pond. No fish, only minnows so he cant do too much damage - I hope.

I know Deida - I'm torn between shooing it off or letting nature have its way - sometimes it flies off but then it returns. Almost full grown but you can tell is a young one.

They look prehistoric to me, almost a little frightening, it's their eyes I think. Oh.... perhaps I was a fish in another life? Great photo though.
