This is lovely, I love red hot pokers but have never grown them. Are they easy to grow?

Fantastic !
Thanks for identifying all the flowers... makes the pic so much more interesting...
Do your lupins get attacked by slugs ?

Thanks Jan, yes Knipophia (Red Hot Pokers) are very easy to grow. This one Rooperi(I think that's the spelling) thrives, even on my heavy clay soil. There are others, of course but I'm not sure if they're so easy!

No, Tt, my Lupins seem to be ok but the Delphiniums get eaten terribly when they first emerge in the spring. Two years ago I lost a couple but I usually keep an eye on the, if I remember, and put beer traps down. What a way to go!!!!

Thanks Paul, I fancy having a go with some of these, my soil is clay too, so fingers crossed!

Good luck Jan. I'm sure the books would tell you that they need well drained soil but , as you can see, they do ok on my clay!
I was reading through a book the other day and it desrcibed them as ' rather vulgar'. That says a lot for our taste doesn't it??!! But they certainly add some vibrant colour!
