Baja fairy duster is native to Southern California into Baja California. It is in full bloom now...one of the few Calliandra which bloom in Summer. Photo taken June 22, 2009.

Yes, it's one of the native calliandra. It is also pretty when in bloom which is in Summer...a contrast to all the other species which bloom heavily in Fall/Winter.

So I'm thinking that if it's a native it might be from around 'Baja' - is that an area in California?

Bernieh:
It is native from Southern California into Baja California (Mexico)....which is just across the border. The Mexican border is less than 15 miles south from my house.
