A dracaena? Wow...it really is an interesting specimen. I had an opuntia as a house plant many years ago...

Lori:

This is a very small specimen...these trees grow very tall and large in time. There's many very large specimens around town...that are close to 50 feet / 16 meters tall. I've posted some larger ones in the past. If you do a search Dracaena draco, I think they will come up on GoY .

Terratoonie:

Yes, it will...when I'm six feet under. lol.
It is still unknow if these trees live hundreds
up to 650 years or thousands of years up to
5,000 years by some sources. My feeling is
that they can live over 2,000 years...however,
it is difficult to document so many years on
one tree.

Luckily there's many large ones around to
enjoy now. : > )

I wonder who planted the large dragon trees which you see ....
and when.... :o)

Terratoonie:

From what I've read the Padres during the Mission Days brought Canary Island Palms and the Dragon trees and a few other plants.

Dragon trees, Canary Island Palms and Olive trees are commonly planted at most Missions in California.
