I saw a Loquat at a GC a couple of months ago for about £60. This one I grew last summer from seed given to me by a friend. He's coming along a treat and needs repotting soon!

The leaf of this reminds me so much of Nispero Japonica Sid, which is a little apricot coloured fruit grown in the med....the growth style is very similar too.

I've not heard of that one Janey....I wonder if the two plants are related? Loquats are 'supposedly' hardy in the UK, but they need a very long hot summer to set fruit (as they blossom late) so don't fruit in the Uk. They are grown as foliage plants and as curiosities. The leaves are large and quite handsome :-)
