Floribunda 'Hot Chocolate'

I feel in love with this Rose, I have two of them in the squares in my front garden. They are slightly browner than the photo shows, but not really the colour of chocolate :o)

There certainly is lol. It has just stopped raining, so I need to go out and clean the Pigeons, Rabbit and Guinea Pigs, then I can walk around the garden and see what is new and what wants tidying. I 've got 6 HollyHocks coming soon and I want to find the best place for them.

Hi, Pamazon, David here, lol!

I know this rose variety from TV garden programmes and books, etc. Most of the ones I've seen there are definitely more red, rather than "chocolate-coloured", but I keep this on our wishlist. I also can sympathise with you, trying to get a pic of it in its true colour. Am having the same problem with our chocolate cosmos - the pics always make it bright red :-(.

Welcome to GOY, by the way. :-)

Ah hah, the infamous David at last!!! Thanks for the welcome, this is just such a great place to be! It's true, Hot Chocolate and Cosmos are so hard to capture on camera. I used to have Cosmos Chocolate and was forever going and sniffing at it, good job nobody could see me. I sort of guess that you are, like me, a 'chocoholic', as I was reading about your garden theme, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!

I wasn't a chocaholic, until my son (who originally suggested we makeover a former garden based on the "Wizard of Oz") came up with the Willy Wonka suggestion for my present garden (he is amazing!). Now, however, I find that, whenever I garden, I need a supply of chocolate to hand. Gardening here makes me very hungry, lol!

Did you ever find a trace of choc scent in the Cosmos? I can't, lol! But, for me, this must be the original plant which started a gardening fashion, so was a "must-have" for us

Happy Gardening ! :-)

That's as good an excuse as any LOL. I like chocolate and many cups of tea when I am gardening. Is there another Plant at all that has a chocolatey smell? I had one - I was sure it was Cosmos - and I had to keep on smelling it as it really did smell like chocolate :o) I will be happy gardening when the rain gives over. I rains for most of the day and then when it is evening and the day is almost finished, the sun comes back out. Not a lot of use that!!

This is one of my favorites too!

Hi Pamazon - welcome from me as well! I've got a Chocolate Cosmos - I had one last year and lost it, so I've planted another one.

Mine definitely smells of chocolate! :-)

I saw your rose at the GC a couple of weeks ago - it looked more brownish there. Is it the camera giving it that pretty red/orange shade?

Hi Spritz. I've sent you two p.messages recently.
Maybe they aren't reaching you ?

Have you? That's odd, Tt. I always check - I'll look again.

Thanks. I've just copied the original message and sent it to you...Mailed the first time on 29th June...

Ah-ha. We'd have been off-line then , wouldn't we. See PM.

The message was an update on the plants... do you have it now ?
Sorry, Pam.... we've hijacked your photo comments....just temporarily.... Lol.

No problem, I enjoy the comments LOL. Thanks Spritz, I am sure the camera makes it more red than it is, but it doesn't look a chocolate colour to me, maybe I have the wrong one. Shall have to get another one and see how they compare :o)

I bet when you put this pic on GoY you didn't anticipate twenty such varied comments. Lol. :o)

ROFL,, maybe not, but variety is the spice of life as they say. Do you know what Terra, I haven't really thought about the smallness of my garden, but seeing all of people's photos on here, I do wish I had more space, there are so many species of plants I would love to have :o( Then again, being the receiver of Her Majesty's Government Pension, perhaps it is just as well LOL.
