Hi
The small one is a fuschia, bought 2 at local farmer's market. Found the pot in the estate bin shed (not in the bin I hasten to add!). There were 2, the same so have a fuschia in each. Strange what people throw away, they are both undamaged

You have a nice selection of plants to play with there Jeanh, of course the advantage of growing in pots is that you can move them around to change the scene. (So long as you eat your Weetabix !) :-))

Am on porridge at the moment! my project for next, sorry this year, is to try and do something with the ground. it's areal mess, mix of contrete, tarmac, and broken up. thinking of maybe small paving, but haven't decided yet. It's the one thing really annoying me as it's a pain to keep clean and clear of weeds. Any suggestions?

If it was my garden, I'd probably go for mixed size paving (Flags) in a warm Sandstone/Buff colour to complement the yellow in the London Stocks building bricks. I think you said the garden's North facing, so they would 'warm' it up a bit. Is it possible to knock out a couple of planting holes in the ground at the base of walls, then add some soil and plant some climbers (Roses or Pyracantha etc) to cover the walls ? The holes would help with rainwater run off and water the plants. There must be some soil under there somewhere ! Perhaps you could charm a strong neighbour to help ? Whatever you decide to do out there, take plenty of photos ! :-)

thanks for the advise, will bear it in mind. Not sure about soil, think it might be quite a long way down (possibly near Australia). Will let you know what I decide, and will of course take pics :-)
