Fireweed at my house

I let the fireweed grow and pull it out once seed forms. It needs no encouragement, it'll be back next year for sure. I've notice the bees also really love this.

Some years before I never liked this weed, but inbetwqeen I love it, even in winter, when the wool comes out and they look very weired...

That is a mouthful Hywel....lol. It is really what draws the bees most. It gets about 5ft tall around here. I pull it out just as the seed starts to come so it wont spread around. It will start seed in a week or two, prompting a frost in 5 weeks. :-( That is part of why I pull it too, so I don't have a reminder things are coming to a close. It turns scarlet in fall foliage, but I don't like the 'wool' about. :-)
Its a wonderful plant Nelke. Spring shoots are edible and very tender.

I wondered what fireweed was. We call it Rose bay willow herb - more of a mouthfull. lol
