I have an almost 6 foot/ 2 meter Iresine lindenii - Bloodleaf plant in my front yard which has been in the ground for 5 years. These plants are commonly used as a shrub in many gardens in semi-shade. They can grow very quickly also...before you know it...it will be large. They are very tender to cold though.

Thanks for your very valuable help with these plants Delonix1 i really do appreciate it, How tender is it because i wanted a bloodleaf plant to have to fill a space but wanted the colour all year round .Will i have to bring it in in winter ,how cold will they stand up to ?Some plants can withstand colder climate the older it gets.
Also do they get spread or do you have to take cuttings to propagate them do you know?

You're very welcome for the info., anytime.

I think this plant is native to Columbia. I know it is a tender shrub, however, I'm not sure how much cold it will tolerate before damage or the death of the plant. I don't get frost where I live...and the temps in winter can be quite mild or warm.

I have started many plants from cuttings though...cuttings generate roots very quickly.

I'll post a photo for you of my bloodleaf - you can see how it grows.
