its a real nice one sbg , I have quite a few lillies but none like these.

these are really easy to grow too. I also have other turks cap types that i will photo when in flower..

I have got some lillies that have grown in the same place for a few years, this year there must be 25 to 35 heads all growing together , it looks great but should they be split up or doesnt it matter

What height are they turk cap ones sbg?
6 Jul, 2009
this one is 4ft tall. i have another one that is close to 5ft cant remember its full name unless i look it up. its something like leicthinia? I also have martagon lilies that are between 3-4ft. and tiger lilies about 3ft.
If your lily clump still has space to grow i'd leave them. the show is well worth it. have you taken photos of them mac?

I think I will get some of the big ones for next year , not got a photo but will take one soon , although in my blog "pot grown veggies " you can see them , see if you can spot them.

What great Lilies, Sbg! Do they need sun, or shade?
6 Jul, 2009
they are happier with some shade. they are on the corner of the house and get morning sun only in the summer months [4hrs] they were chosen as they were shade tolerant and there is a lot of shade in my garden.

yup thats them sbg you spotted them

Hmm. They'd go at the back of my wide border, then! I must make a note. Are they easily obtainable?

Its Gorgeous , I might try to grow some of these next year, Love it..Gone to my Faves..

I think I bought some from Harts Nursery but they are not doing all that well as they were planted quite late. The website says takes two seasons to establish~is that the case any one?.
I would really like a pale pink spotted one that my grandfather used to grow but haven't seen anything quite like it I'm sure he used to grow these too ~called them tiger lilies? He used to grow a lot of lilies when I used to watch him in the garden as a child which is probably why I like them so much!
nb
Avon have a fantastic selection of Allium.

these arent tiger lilies but they are similar in habit. the pale pink spotted ones might be the martagon lily. I have those too.
these bulbs were bought from Parkers and flowered the first season they were in. I started them off in pots to make sure they were well under growth before they went in the garden.
I also have tiger lilies L. lancifolium formerly L. tigrinum. they are almost open.
I also have L. leichtlinii, another turks cap type. usually 5ft tall. doesnt spread very rapidly though. different books have this as being the parent of the tiger and leopard lilies. very confusing :~l.
