Of all the comfy beds provided,, this odd plant has to sleep in the toy box amidst my pc cables etc., how uncomfortable, he needs transplanting....................;o)

He's lovely. What's his name ?

7 Jul, 2009

His name's Todd, Hywel, he was ill treated as a pup, dumped into Battersea Dogs Home for 10 months while they tried to socialise him, he was due to the put to sleep when I was offered him by Chihuahua Rescue, he is a Chi/Pom cross and only 2 and half. Their loss, my gain, he's gorgeous.

Thank you ladies, he is such a little pal he really is, just like a shadow. He has one habit which does make me laugh. I cannot go to the loo on my own without him there and as soon as I stand up, he has to look down in the toilet and watch it flush, it is of very great interest to him LOL........no accounting for taste I guess :o)

Once Todd is outside on his lead, he is totally deaf and blind to me or anything I say. Yesterday just after we crossed the main road, his extension lead snapped and he was away like a rocket. He ran down the canal towpath and was deaf to my calls, I had to run like the clappers after him and knew I couldn't keep it up for along, my days of sprinting are really long gone now. I had no idea where we would end up and I was panicking. He stopped to smell at something interesting and I grabbed his tail, he was annoyed and struggled and we both almost fell into the canal. I could have killed him LOL. I have tried all I know to get him to come to me when we are out by working with him on the lead, but he just won't have it. Back to the drawing board, I can't keep on coping with these shocks LOL.

lol Maybe its a rescue thing Pam , Tay is exactly the same when we are out. she totally blanks me. she did get off the lead once and funny enough it was down by the canal too lol. she ran straight into a farmers field and then couldnt find her way out . daft dog lol

I think it must be Eileen, Todd was in Brands Hatch and then Battersea Dogs Homes for a total of 10 months out of his 2 and half years, so maybe it's a freedom sort of thing! Make darned sure he won't do it again, frightened the socks off me. They both should realise we are their bread and butter and give us a bit more respect.............LOL

12 Jul, 2009

lol i agree with you there, dont they know we will look after them lol.
it is scary when they get loose. Tay is micro chipped but doesnt mean i would find her again

Will Todd or Tay come back if you have food treats in your pocket ?
Works with lots of dogs.... Lol.

12 Jul, 2009

Todd won't Terra. I have tried everything, having him on the extension lead and calling him back with dggie buttons in my pocket, but once he is free he is totally deaf to me, he is the first dog I have had like this. I have never had a dog before, always bitches and they have always come when I have called them. He is so silly Terra, he is losing out on so much freedom...:o(

12 Jul, 2009

If you have any tips, I would be very grateful Todd is micro chopped too, but that doesn't mean I would get him back, like Tay.

12 Jul, 2009

Tay wont come back for treats either , i could have a chicken in my hand and she would ignore it once she is out and about lol

12 Jul, 2009

Generally bitches are more likely to come back to their owners than dogs, but a lot depends on the breed. I've owned male Shelties and they've never wanted to leave my side. They are a Pastoral breed. However, Terriers off lead will often run around and be on the horizon before they realise that their owners are not near... Lol.

Oh Pam Todd is lovely and like most terriers has a mind of his own, but can understand your worry when he wont return apart from treats I dont know what else you could try! I usually have a bag of Markies in my pocket only have to shake the bag Polly my dog is back before you can say" come" lol

12 Jul, 2009

Wish Todd would PP. He's not actually a Terrier, he's a cross between a Chihuahua and a Pomeranian, and I was reading about :Poms and apparently they are very stubborn characters with a mind of their own. As he has mostly Pom in him, I can see it :o)

LOL
