Now that is a gorgeous colour and just 'right' for your bed.

A shady lady. You're going to have to extend that bed, Ian. lol

I knew you'd like it, Louise!
Ian, at least I posted its name just for you! Now you can look for one. :-)
8 Jul, 2009
Thank you Miss. :~)) As Wagger say'a I'm gona need a bigger bed

You definitely are, as you are now looking at flowers and LIKING them! Penstemons are easy to grow and you can take cuttings off them to increase the number you have! What's stopping you?
As this is a new one, I can't take cuttings yet - but I might have some from other Penstemons later, all being well, Ian. I'll PM you if I have.

Oooooo Thank you Spritz, Please remember we might be moving soon.
8 Jul, 2009
I can keep them until you do, or send them and you can keep them in pots to take with you. They should be well-rooted in about 3 - 4 weeks time. Easier to send while they are still small, of course, if that's OK??

Are you kidding?........Thats brilliant, Thank you, I hope you lnclude lots of instructions with them.....Lol. I will PM my address sraight away
8 Jul, 2009
You'll STILL have to wait until they are properly rooted, though, or all the compost will fall off in the post and they'll arrive as ex-Penstemons, Ian! lol. Patience, patience.

Doooh, Homer moment Lol.
Perhaps we will have moved by then. What a gift :~)))))))))))))) Thank you.
Is your alter ego Mrs. Claus??
8 Jul, 2009
No - just a gardener like all the other lovely members who share their plants, too! :-)

Barbara it is absolutely stunning.
8 Jul, 2009
I have found this one prefers a little bit of shade rather than full sun
8 Jul, 2009
Oooohhh Andrew, well it's staying where it is, now - I shall try to keep it happy if I can.
Ian, how long did it take you to work that HUGE smile out? It's great!
8 Jul, 2009
Put a little sunshade over it, Spritz. Or move it next to a physocarpust - that will shade it.
8 Jul, 2009
Its an artists impression of how I've been looking all day
8 Jul, 2009
Well, that's really nice, feeling like that, Ian! I don't think you'll have to wait too long for your pressies. :-) And - I like the smile!
Wagger, you could be right - when the plants and small shrubs grow a bit, the new Penstemons will get a little shade. :-)

Hi Spritz..sent you a pm on Monday Hope you got it !
8 Jul, 2009
I don't think so, Bb - but I'll check back. I'll let you know.

OK now? Messages returned...

Found it Spritz!! It's magical, what a stunning colour. I have a pkt of Penstemon seeds, mixed varieties, guess Blackbird won't be amongst them :o( I shall have to search the Internet for it, but it is a 'must have'. :o)

Good luck, Pam! :-)

Ooo - this is nice Barbara....I have one called 'Raven', but it's more a dark red - no where near as dark as this one. Very nice. I think Penstemons could become something of an obsession if I had more room............
10 Jul, 2009
:-) Hear, hear, Sarah! I keep taking cuttings, too.
Did you see my PM. btw?
10 Jul, 2009
How's my babies doing Barbara? Lol.
Do these need shade? as I'm planning a new bed for them and some daylilies from Bigbumblebee.
I'm all excited again just thinking about them :~))
10 Jul, 2009
No, they prefer sun, but will also take a bit of shade. I checked them today and they are firmly rooted, so I can send them after the weekend! :-)
10 Jul, 2009
Woooo Hoooooo Yeeeeeee Haaaaaaaaa, Hmm Hmmm sorry I just got a bit carried away. Full sun it is then. :~)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
10 Jul, 2009
LOL. Don't start me off again, Ian! You are as bad as Toto for that!
10 Jul, 2009
Going on the wish list Spritz...:>)
16 Jul, 2009
I don't blame you - I think that this is the nicest colour I've seen in a Penstemon. :-) I hope they produce some shoots from lower down - there aren't any at the moment. I want to take cuttings!
