9 Jul, 2009

No their Not Hardy Jane/Ray so these will need to be kept Snug over winter :)

9 Jul, 2009

Hi Jacque - I have a bottle brush shrub - Its about 5 foot tall now and has been flowering since I got it - mine has survived bad frosts for a few years now so it must be quite hardy. In bud at the mo :-)

9 Jul, 2009

They should be hardy Jacque and Bonkers. Why do you think that are not Jacque?

9 Jul, 2009

Hi Dawn thats great News Thanx 4 telling us :) 5 foot is a great size 2 :)

I must get some cuttings done in the next fortnight :-)

9 Jul, 2009

No, Jacque and I wouldn't have bought them myself , but it's sometimes nice to try something different from seed to see if they come good!

9 Jul, 2009

9 Jul, 2009

Good stuff Jacque - my Dad always told me the 3rd week in July was the time to take cuttings, so that is what I do every year :-)))) I love lavender Jacque and the bees love them, dont they.

9 Jul, 2009

Yes they do Dawn u should of seen me with my head burried in the Lavender looking 4 suitable Babys with the Bees buzzing around my ears lol Not 1 Bothered /Stung me :)

9 Jul, 2009

Bees dont sting for the sake of it do they, whereas wasps seem to :-(

9 Jul, 2009

Jacque:

I've never seen a Callistemon citrinus - Bottle brush this small before...I guess I'm just used to seeing them as a 15 - 25 foot tree here.

10 Jul, 2009

Hi all, just to add into the hardy/not hardy thing, there are different varieties, some are fully hardy some frost sensertive. so they may not be fully hardy Jac...don't ask me which is which.... there are lots,,, but i do have one of the hardy vareities, mine has quite small flowers and very long stems... if that makes sense. lol

10 Jul, 2009

Dawn i also think Bees are Much Cuter looking Than Wasps lol , O Delonix this is now 3 times bigger than it was ! :) RRrrrrrrrrrr Ang i understand now thanx 4 that :)

10 Jul, 2009

I agree Jacque .

10 Jul, 2009

Jacque:

Sorry...I didn't mean to sound arrogant. Callistemon species are usually sold in almost all nurseries as a 6 - 12 foot tree for the landscape here.

Your seedling is very healthy looking and I'm sure in a short time will be large...as they grow very quickly. : > )

10 Jul, 2009

Thanx Dawn :) Delonix i dont think your Arrogant@ all just full of Infomation that we dont know over here about plants from over there :)

12 Jul, 2009

Jacque:

Thank you so much for the sweet compliment. That's what
GoY is all about for me...learning about people's garden, plant experiences and sharing mine. : > )

13 Jul, 2009
