A littl more education needed, Ian - sorry!
These are commonly called 'Geraniums' but their real name is 'Pelargonium'...they are used for bedding, and are tender so they need to be kept frost-free in the winter, or take cuttings. 'Geraniums' are almost all hardy and come in all shapes and sizes, usually in colours from white through to purple, with lots of pink ones. I love them and collect them! They are very useful plants as ground cover or for border plants.
Is that lesson OK?? When you get your new garden, we can chat about some to plant. You'll love them!

Strangely, although I've grown Pelargoniums (both Zonal & Regal) I've never grown Geraniums! Yet down by the river they grow wild & look fabulous. I see them in some gardens nearby.
FYI, Ian, Zonal Pelargoniums are what you showed us in your photo & what Holly calls "geronimos". Regal Pelargoniums are much bigger plants & usually flower once, in spring. They have much bigger flowers which usually have black markings in them. They also make woody stems unlike the Zonals which are fleshy.

Many moons ago, I used to collect Regals - I loved them and propagated them as well. I really must get some more. Thanks for reminding me!

Thanks Balcony, I'm learning something new everyday :~))
Hi Barbara, will you have any room for them? LOL

No - I wouldn't put Regals in the garden, I shall just have a couple in the greenhouse! They are such lovely flowers. The rain would ruin them.

Oh, I see. More info, I think I should start writing everything down. :~))
