oh thats lovely. i had one of them..now u have me thinking where is it?

I dug the ones in the border, out and put them in pots Sandra. I worried that in our clay soil they might rot during a particularly wet winter. They seem to do very well in pots and are good for filling gaps in the border!

Yes, Sanbaz. They're great when they start to emerge and you just see the leaves oin top of the bloom!

Thanks everyone.
No Sanbaz, no need to keep indoors. I know they look exotic but they are actually very hardy. If you grow them in pots, you could bring them into shelter or maybe put the pot by the house but I have had them in the borders and they survived the winter!
There is another variety that's seen quite a lot Morgana that has a purple/red spot inside the bloom and on the leaves. I have some growing in a pot but they aren't flowering yet. Will upload photo if (hopefully) they flower.
A sad footnote to this comment, I was cleaning the patio/back garden today and as I moved this pot, I broke this only flower stem. As you can imagine, I said " Oh blow" or something similar!!!! It is now in a small glass vase on the kitchen window sill!

I think Paul its the one with red in the middle as I can see little bits of red . Is the flower green with red ?

14 Jul, 2009

I suppose it is a little on the green side of white, yes. And sometimes reddish spots on the leaves too!

I've only had one flower from six plants this year Andrew. They were in pots so perhaps they're a bit congested so I'll re pot some of them next year!
