Liatris, Gee. I am growing it and wondered about that purple flower as well. I saw them on Motinot's pic of this garden and she posted a close up on questions and whalla! Liatris. :-) And i learned the buds flower top to bottom. I can't wait for mine to start up now. :-)

LOL.. on a warm summers eve with no bugs..it would be a delight to sleep over..lol.. I would not make a garden like this..interesting however.
