What are the plants with the reddish leaves ?

I was wondering the same thing - they look like canna leaves.

Is that orangey flower part of the same plants ?

Do Sausage Trees grow well in the UK ?

Highly unlikely...they are from the ultra-tropical areas of
Africa...sausage trees cannot be grown in many of
the canyon areas of in-land San Diego. They are tender to the slightest frost and cannot even tolerate protracted cool temps. without damage or death of the tree.
