Coreopsis 'Limerock Ruby'

I love most of the Coreospsis but have found only a couple to be hardy and then only for a season or two.

I know. It's really such a shame. The one that comes up every year is C. vercillicata. These new hybrids have that as one of their parents.

I am keeping a couple of the 'Cumbia' ones, plus a pure white one called 'Limbo' in the greenhouse - I like them and they are cheerful company! Better looking than tomatoes, anyway! LOL

I have to agree that for aesthetics, they beat tomatoes hands down. My greenhouse has tomatoes.

Boring plants, aren't they! I normally have a few flowers in there as well - I have two pots of Zantedeschia 'Captain Safari' and the Coreopsis this year.

Previously, I've grown Schizanthus. Do you know them? They're just lovely! I really must plant some more seeds.:-)

Snap. I used to grow Schizanthus too but havn't thought to for the last few years. I shall have to make a note for myself to get some seed. This year I have chilli plants growing with my tomatoes and they are boring too.

It's not easy to find Schizanthus seeds - I had to order mine, which is why I forgot this year - (pathetic). The GCs don't seem to stock them for some reason.

I used to get mine from Thompson & Morgan but I've gone off them in recent years as the quality of their seeds seems to have gone downhill. Probably try Mr. Fothergills for next years seeds.

How true! The seeds are almost as bad as their plants...well, they couldn't be, I suppose, but I don't get the germination I should with T&M. I wonder if Chiltern Seeds do them? I shall take a look.

Sounds like another good idea. I have bought seeds from Chiltern before and find them very reliable.
I agree with you about germination rates with T&M. Even some of the more common and easily germinated seed has failed when bought from them. They do say that if your not completely satisfied, they will replace seed but who wants the hassle? Any way by the time you realise that you are not getting what you paid for it's too late for that season.

I think that they make such a huge profit Spritz that I doubt that they would ask for proof, after all how much would it cost them to send out a replacement packet of seed to keep the customer quiet and have that same customer tell his friends how, when the seeds failed that there was no argument from the seller? They win hands down as they free, word of mouth advertising, unless you are a synic like me.

I still haven't heard anything from that mail order Nursery, I sent them an e-mail with attached photos. I suppose I'll have to start harrassing them. I hate that!

I think they cover that in the smallprint Spritz. I think it says that if the specified plants are not available that alternatives will be sent.

When I plucked up courage to ring them, they were very apologetic and asked for photos 'for their suppliers'. They did say I'd get my money back...

Why do they want photo's? Don't they have their own quality control? Sounds to me like they are another cheapskate operation which needs the public to be their eyes. I've no time at all for these big companies with high powered lawyers and fancy terms and conditions which can't keep an eye on their own suppliers without our help. I wish we could get back to honest trading, but doubt that will ever happen.

No news yet! They really are taking their time...I'll have to phone again tomorrow. :-(
