Gladiolus callianthus


Gladiolus callianthus (Acidanthera murieliae (Peacock orchid))

first for me, not grown these before but a friend had some and they looked quite nice last year so had to try them...

We must be doing something wrong Motinot! What's really frustrating is that I could always get blooms from them.........

thanks Motinot, as long as they get full sun they should flower, Hb best to lift them over winter too much cold kills them..

I planted them this year, Surreylad...I'm just going to leave them where they are though, since I have to protect that whole border, and hope that they come up next year...

That is stunning is it an orchid is it scented.

No it's not an orchid sixpence but it is scented, it used to be called Gladiolus callianthus but they moved it to this one.... Acidanthera murielae it's a bit tender and need lifting at winter time to be safe...

Thank you Surreylad as I ve had these one minute they say they are orchids then say they are gladiolus, not sure which to believe or are there two simular.
