Butterfly Magnet, I mean Weed

DiOhio

By Diohio

Butterfly Magnet, I mean Weed (Asclepias tuberosa)

Butterfly Weed is truely a butterfly magnet. There are 10 Great Spangled Fritillaries shown in this picture, all nectaring on the orange Butterfly Weed in my back raised bed. The purple flowers are Campanula and a Lamb's Ear species.

Looks too nice a flower to be a weed, the butterfly population seem to like it - I don't think i've ever seen so many in one place. Lovely picture!

I don't know how they came up with the name "Weed" Mark. It's not like it's invasive and it definately doesn't LOOK like a weed. Butterfly Flower is more appropriate

Fantastic photo. I'd quite like some of those weeds in my garden Diohio and I'm sure all the butterflies would keep Dylan, my kitten entertained
