My banana birds nest fern. (Asplenium australasicum (Birds Nest Fern))

Its now getting over being divided from a second BNF. Its also settling in after I moved it down near the ground and safe from cats jumping on it to get over the fence as before. They would even knock the whole plant to the ground.
Now in April I see some big fronds are going up. Not sure how big this can get..but its like a nanner.

It looks great Stan reading up on the Bird Nest fern it can grow 2 to 3 ft max

It's past that. The trunk is at least a foot and the largest fronds about 4' more.
Right now it looks a little haphazard. It should start to grow a more refined circular growth of fronds, looking less nanner then.

Under the black tree fern is a Mother Fern, with little plantlets on the leaf edges. It too will grow much larger here. 4' in diameter is possible.
I had to dig it up 2 years ago. Possums were eating the new fronds. In a pot, they stopped!

Yes I can see the little plantlets on the leaves Stan I remember you saying about the Possoms.

It looks great! There's many very large ones here in San Diego. They grow well under trees if they receive water regularly.
