I bought this tree last year. It was on my list of plants to have for a long time. Newly emerging leaf is dark red and then it lightens up.

Yes wells it is a tree. Generally called Redbud .
They are 2 kinds one with red leaves and one with pale green. The red is called Redbud "forest pansy". That is the one I have. It blooms very early before the leaves come on but I bought it for its leaves.

You call it a Forest Pansy, yet you say tree? Is it a tree? And what height? The leaf is sensational and to change is even better. Now to look it up.
