This very old, big dragon tree grove is growing very well at Lotusland in Montecito, Santa Barbara County. The ones in this pic are only a portion of the mature dragon trees. Photo take September 19, 2024.

Thorneyside,
I know the dragon tree is native to the Canary Islands. I read there was one that was estimated to 5,000 plus years old, however, it fell in a big storm many years ago.
Most of the very old dragon trees in California were planted in the 1880’s and 1890’s. Some of these dragon trees at Lotusland were planted in the 1890’s.

Bushbernie,
Yes, they are quite spectacular, especially when they’re with full seed.

Many years ago I used to live in Tenerife and there is a very old dragon tree in Icod de los Vinos in the north that's supposed to be nearly a thousand years old. Another lifetime ago Delonix!
