Did you get these as bulbs or plants, Seaburngirl? I've thought of trying bulbs and wonder how they do from dry bulbs.

I got the bulbs very early autumn and planted them straight away. I resisted getting half price ones in Jan and as you know what I am like for a bargain you can imagine my angst. I have always been told that once they get dry they are likely to die. The year before I bought a couple of pots in the reduced section after they had finished flowering and planted them in the green.

They have now been planted in the newly dug corner that had silver birch in them. They like quite a bit of sun so they are in the sunniest spot i can find.

This is very lovely. I like this particular frit very much, like it was dipped just at the tip.

Here we can get away with dry bulbs for many months held at 50F or less. Some require even cooler condition like liatris or lily, but they store very well in the bottom bin of the refrigerator. Storing that way, they should be mulched a bit, they don't like to be bare. That is how we carry over those that wont survive the winter in the ground. Just passing that along. :-)

I was meaning about the ones you buy in the overheated gc that have them in packets for sale from August through to Jan.

But it is valuable info re keeping them safe over winter Greenthumb thanks.

I'll keep that info in mind - no, I'll make a note of it or I'll forget. Thanks SBG.
