My Maui Red Ixora is blooming pretty well this early in the season. It usually blooms pretty heavily from April/May through December. Photo taken Mar. 25, 2013.

It's going in the ground with the rest of my other Ixoras very soon.

Marguerite:
I have them as small shrubs. Ixoras don't grow as fast as in the tropics; however, everything else (most of my plants are tropical) grows super fast...too fast, sometimes. I do have to water a lot, everyday in fact.

I have sandy loam, which is loaded with rock. The soil drains too fast...and that's why I need to water almost every day...even in winter. Mulch doesn't seem to work too well here, either (to help keep moisture in the soil).

What else?
See who else is growing Ixora coccinea 'Maui Red'.
See who else has plants in genus Ixora.
