I love those Libertia Taupo Angela, but have to put mine inside when the first frosts come. Are they hardy with you being down south 'n all?!

Sheila we used to grow them in the Midlands, so they are fairly hardy....depends on the soil too...

Sheila - they're hardy in balmy Berkshire.

The shapes will look good through winter too

That's good to know, Andrew . . any particular situation (sun, shade, sheltered)?

25 Sep, 2015

One is in 3/4 sun in a clay soil, three others are in part shade in decent loamy soil. Both spots are fairly sheltered though.

I shall fleece these if the winter turns really bad, as it is their first year, because this situation is open to the elements, my other Libertia is fairly sheltered in heavy soil with added grit Sheila....

I'm thinking maybe I'll keep mine in its pot! Thank you both for the extra info . . .

You have seen my excuse for a brown leaved Libertia and probably 15 years old, just can't seem to get the situation right.

I love the Libertia too, but it wouldn't do well here. I find Uncinia Rubra is a good alternative, although not quite so bright. :)

25 Sep, 2015

Uncinia is a very useful sedge, we use it a great deal in the garden...

25 Sep, 2015

Uncinia self sows in my garden. I keep finding seedlings in unexpected places.

Love Uncinia . . . and Imperata too :)

Same here Andrew with some of the Stipa......
