My little 4 foot tall mango tree is flushing new growth. I started it from a Keitt variety mango seed. Photo taken July 31, 2021.

Hello Stan,
Yes, it’s pretty insane that yesterday the forecast was for a category 2 hurricane to hit San Diego! Now, it’s for a strong tropical storm or minimal category 1 hurricane to hit San Diego. Either way, many people are starting to freak out! The last time San Diego was hit by a hurricane was back in 1858, a very, very long time.
I’ve been getting the plants prepared for the big storm today. I’m not used to protecting the plants from a storm in the middle of summer.

Best of luck Andy. Hopefully all that happens is your yards get a good healthy soaking!

Stan,
We got about 3 inches of rain here, and all my barrels are full of water. The winds on the back side of the storm were really strong, gusts 30 to 50 mph. I was very prepared, so it wasn’t any worse than the usual strong storm. My rack of bananas didn’t even blow over, but I did cut the leaves in half for less resistance.

What else?
See who else is growing Mangifera indica (Mango).
See who else has plants in genus Mangifera.

First ever tropical storm warning for San Diego, how are you preparing for that? We might get rains and over 80f on Monday.
May and June so cool...then August has been near tropical.
