I agree, Cinders. This was my "Holy Grail" in Scotland. I did manage to raise some from seed, which I planted in the garden, but, I left that house to come to France - so I don't know what happened to them.

If you have the right conditions they are very easy...but it's the big 'if'. Woodland shade (dappled), cool moist summers, slightly acidic, humus rich soil...sorted:) they are well suited to Scottish gardens. They can take three years from seed, so not something I would be willing to wait for!
