Pretty little white flowers appearing on my Red Robin for the first time. Shame the leaves aren’t so pretty this year..

Really pretty flowers Kate. I can’t grow Photinia..they always die. I suspect they prefer it warm. Its strange because I used to grow Stransvaesia davidiana ‘Palette’ in my first garden, and it was perfectly at home. Its now called Photinia so must be the same family. Really pretty evergreen and to my mind, much prettier than Red Robin etc. Mind you, it was a sheltered garden. Much warmer than here. Only 8 miles from here, but a totally different garden. Oh well...I hope yours picks up when it starts growing again.

Kate, yours isn't the only one with 'not-so-pretty' leaves ... some of mine are curling and brown. I think it's lack of water more than disease though.

Thanks Shirley, please with your info. I’ll keep it well watered.

Hi Karen, I’ll have to look this one up - Stransvaesia Davidiana Palette. I haven’t heard of this before. I know what you mean though, there can be such a big difference in temperature and environment in the gardens only several miles apart.

What else?
See who else is growing Photinia x fraseri (Christmas berry).
See who else has plants in genus Photinia.

Very pretty. Our photinias had a few flowers, not much. It was the first flowering since we planted last november.
