Primula

Primula (Primula alpicola (Moonlight Primrose))

This beautiful violet primula is very strongly perfumed. The perfume carries on the air. I love it. I wish it was a bit stronger growing so i could divide it every year! I've only managed one division in five years. :(

tbh marshmallow, I'm not convinced that this is the right name. I'm hoping someone will come on and reassure or correct me!

Can't help there, sorry. Where did you find it? It's so nice to have a flower with a beautiful perfume. It's like natural aroma therapy in your garden.

Lovely colour, and perfumed too?

Yes, beautiful strong perfume DD. I have no idea where I bought it poodle, but it might have been part of an order I got from Christies Alpine nursery...sadly they no longer seem to have a website so I can't check with them.

It looks like Primula alpicola.I grew this from seed but find it hard to keep the moisture loving types as it gets so dry here in the south east. The yellow one is very nice,I think.

Thanks Pcw. That's what I have it down as. Good to know it's probably correct!

They look good amongst all the greenery. Not an inch of ground has been missed, great.

how tall do they grow ? ive seen the alpicola alba on a russian web site that looks very tall in the photo but all others look smaller im wondering is this one a different strain ?

This one is only about 30cm tall YoungA....at most. Sadly I've only spotted one flower head this year. Pity as it was such a beauty.
