Stunning wee plant, Andrew.

As you can see from the photo, this is a moisture-loving primula. The basket is stood on bricks at the side of the pond so that about three inches of soil are in the water. As it doesn't like to be waterlogged in the winter, I stand the basket in a cold greenhouse (with no watering at all), and just place it back in position in early spring as soon as the weather starts to warm up. If you don't have greenhouse space, a sheltered corner would do just as well. It's been quite happy with this regime for seven years now.

Would a coldframe, rather than a greenhouse, be asking too much of it, Andrew?

No, that will be fine Mouldy. It can stand the cold, it's cold AND waterlogged it's not so keen on

Gotcha.
Thanks, Andrew!

Very pretty, and it's lovely that you lavish such care and attention to it's needs, it's rewarding you with this beautiful display!
