Bernieh:
Beautiful Coleus!
Is this variety called 'Amour' ? I have a variety that looks just like this one...I pulled many of them out after 3 years about 3 months ago. They get woody and the termites attack the stems. Does this happen there also?

Not sure what this is called Delonix. Yes they go woody after a couple of years - but I take lots of cuttings so I just keep on growing them. We have to have termite treatment every year where I live or our wooden house would be eaten away in no time - termites are everywhere out here.

Benieh:
That's what I usually do...however, I only have one small coleus plant left. I'm going to have to take many cuttings from this one little plant now.
I'll post a photo of what my front yard used to look like for over 3 years with the many coleus plants...the plants were all started from one plant I purchased over 4 years ago.
It's funny you mention termites...because I see houses tented all the time for termintes...the Formosan termites have establised themselves here...I've read they can eat a house down in about 4 years if not treated. They are horrible little pest. In the last month I've seen 3 houses on my block tented for termites. : > (

Would love to see the photos with all the coleus plants - I'm a big fan. Termites are an on-going problem around here, but we don't use tents for termite eradication. We use baits that are sunk into the ground or garden beds all around the house. These baits are treated with some sort of dust toxicant. Termites are attracted to the bait and when they return to their colony they spread the toxicant and kill off the entire colony. It works well.

I think that's the second part of the treatment here...after tenting.
