When in full flower they are spectacular! In the Congo region of Africa (where native) they are called flame of the forest.

I bet they are. I can see why they got that name. I am suprised they allowed them into the country with such strict laws on bringing plants into the countries now .

The seeds I'm sure were brought in many, many years ago.

Yes most likely ?

Not sure where the Golden-yellow form came from originally, though. It's a grafted tree or grown from cuttings.

When reading up on it says native to South America.

African Tulip tree is native to Central Africa. It's native to the equatorial regions. Most likely the golden-yellow variety was a chance seedling...this is why it's grafted or grown by cuttings.

Ahrr I see yes that makes sence.

I've never read exactly where this variety was discovered in Africa, though.

21 May, 2017

When I have tried to find its native country it mentions south sub tropical forest in Africa also mentions Ghana.

Yes, it's native to many of the equatorial regions of Africa. The information on African Tulip trees on Wikipedia is incorrect. Wikipedia, almost anybody can add information. This is why is never very accurate.

21 May, 2017

I did nt get the information off Wikipedia as I know many times it has nt been correct when checking on our local history site.

21 May, 2017

Yes, that's a good idea. I have old books which are very accurate. If anythings in question I go back to the books. :>)

I do the same as years ago when books were written they were aimed to teach us nit brain wash like now.

23 May, 2017
