My Bird-of-Paradise has been blooming for about a month. They are very widely grown here and will bloom until spring. Photo taken Oct. 25, 2010.

Almost every neighbor has at least one large clump of Bird-of-Paradise in their yard. Actually, this clump is only around 6 ft/ 2 meters tall and wide. There's many more larger, and impressive specimens in my neighborhood than this one. :>)
