Tamarix tetrandra (Tamarix tetrandra)

So many frothy blossoms this year, though it needs a good shaping, it's still a treat to see.....:o)

Love these Janey and what a beauty you have. I've never had one, are they easy to grow.

Thanks Paul, Milky and Dd....this year it is better than ever....:o)

It is Carol!...:o)

Aileen and Dawn.....it was already in the garden when we came 4 years ago, but was squashed behind a Cordyline which we lost this last Winter. I'm sure it's happier now, though it does need a good prune when the flowers are finished. Then you have this ferny foliage till winter. I've seen others in the village which have been grown as shrubs and aren't quite as stunning, I,m sure the elderly man who once lived here was a keen gardener, and he trained it as a standard. We have quite poor soil here, but it grows in the part where I empty all spent compost, which has helped.

Thanks Janey!

I don't much care for Tamarix usually....a bit messy and straggly for me...but this is STUNNING!! Must be the standard shape that makes all the difference. Lovely Janey!

Janey it is stunning , I bought one last year after seeing yours but it's still very small , I will be asking your advice every step of the way when it starts to grow ;o)
I hope mine looks like yours one day !

your advice about training as a standard is interesting Janey. I took a small cutting off one up the road last year, lol. Only a few inches high, you never know, one day it may look like yours.

Glad you like it Karen, soon the flowers will fade, and it'll be a big job to prune it, should look even better next year then....:o)
With losing the cordylines Amy, this part of the garden is much lighter and it's lovely to see this beauty from the house now...I'm not sure how quickly they grow, or how old this one is, though I'm sure you will be very pleased with yours once it is established.
The trunk must be 6ft Dawn, then the branches add another 3ft at least, so they do make a small tree...hope your cutting is a quick grower...:o)
