They are lovely. The snails or birds have also taken a fancy to mine and only one flower out of 8 have grown to flowering size.

Sheila, that's a shame. These are growing in gravel so probably not been bothered with the slugs and the birds don't generally come down this far!

Beauties Scottish...

We have pheasants come in to the garden and I'm sure they come in here for their pudding course because they love to chop anything that takes their fancy.

Thanks DD2. I see the pheasants over in the fields but so far none have fancied appearing in the garden.
Mum is convinced she has been seeing ferret like creatures at my pond early in the morning. I've asked her to waken me next time so I can see what they are. I'm thinking stoats. The guy I was talking to about the kingfisher told me he has seen mink and weasels along the river. Needs investigating!

It will probably be mink.

Oh arn't mink a problem?

That's what I was wondering DD2 - I've not read up yet and I'd like to ID before I get my knickers in a knot ;)
I've shown her pictures but none are exactly what she has been seeing apparently.
She describes them as 'strawberry blonde' which points more to Stoats. I've no fish in the pond, so there's no food there for them.

Mink and weasels belong to the same family and the American mink which escaped in to the wild did come in a range of colours from white through to almoost black. It will be interesting to see what it is. The mink will take frogs.

thanks for that Sheila - no frogs in the pond either. The tadpoles which grew up to be frogs and left, never came back :( Maybe that's why!!
