Thanks, 6d! They are looking good at present. I have three of these long, white plant troughs on my balcony. They have all been underplanted with spring flowering bulbs. When they start to flower I'll take more photos & upload them here like these.

I also have 9 clay pots that go into the rings I put along the top of the railing with Violas underplanted with Crocuses. I've taken them off the railing while this cold spell lasts to give them a little extra protection. The pots could freeze with the hard frosts we have been having. The Violas & the Crocuses can resist the low temps with no problems - when they are growing in the garden soil!

You will have to be careful of the clay pots in the frost.

Your Pansy trough looks lovely and hasn't it weathered the severe weather well!

I'd moved everything further into the balcony where they would get a little more protection. i moved them out again a few days ago, I guess I'll have to move them in once again now that we are told to expect the cold weather back again.

I haven't moved the clay pots out to the railing again, therefore they won't freeze & be damaged by the freezing conditions.
