sigh...had grapes in my last garden...hard to believe we moved 18 whole months ago! Planted concord grapes beside the shed in the old garden and they covered the whole end of it with lovely shade and tiny dark purple grapes. Great shot Ggem...thanks for sparking the lovely memory!

That sounds lovely Lori :) Would you get some to go in your new place? This is my first experience of growing grapes so I'm still unsure what I'm doing with them! The vine must be over 20 years old though so has had a bit more practice than me ;o)

I suppose it depends on the variety of grape, Gg..but a 20 year old plant will just keep doing what it's been doing...right? lucky you. perhaps you could take a look around the web for pruning rules and techniques?...that will help you feel more at ease with your grape! There are wild grapes and wild clematis growing in this area...so perhaps I could try them again. They make a lovely cover for a pergola or arbour...The grapes were small and dark purple and the squirrels and birds made short work of them...I tasted them and they were sweet-tart and very grape-y...mmm.

I hope so! I decided to buy myself a book on pruning/training because I was feeling a bit intimidated by it as it'd grown rather large and was taking over the greenhouse! So hopefully this year will be a 'practice' and next year I can make a better job of it? The grapes seem to be growing ok (to my in-expert eye) at the moment though, and with it being in a greenhouse I hope there'll be more for me than those squirrels and birds :o)
