California rains... (Washingtonia robusta (Mexican Fan Palm))

Nice to see real thunderclouds over the city after so much drought.

Did it actually rain? I love the smell of outdoors when it rains after a drought don't you?

Its gets earthy this soon in the winter. Plus you have to love the plants all look perky as by now the ground is softening up.

Did you get thunderstorms there?

We’re forecasted to get some real rain this Sunday.

8 Dec, 2022

It was a consistent non stop of rain with heavier rains...just soaking. The forecast has something like 9 days of rains or showers for the next 12 days. Today was the only clear sunny day in the forecast.

It was clear here today, only 63 degrees, so pretty cold. Sunday and Monday looks like pretty good rains here. I won’t believe it until I see it, though.

Saturday more thunderstorms and heavy rains here. Our second consecutive rainy December. Last year, the tap ran out by January, this year seem different as its been cool and wet since late November.
I hope my dry plants dont get rot this winter.

Lovely photo Stan. We had lashing downpours for two weeks here, but now there is 4 inches of snow ... a winter wonderland!

I've heard Sheila the UK went from mild to wild...cold from other garden forums. Snow and plenty of it in London even.
Norcalifornia has been in a run of cold nights and more to come.

A weird year for weather Stan. Our son in Melbourne says they have hail and cold rain …. supposed to be high summer in Australia!

Stan,

We got some pretty good rain the last two days, a little more than an inch. It’s really chilly, only upper 50’s until Wednesday when 60’s will be back.

Last January we had temps in the 70’s and 80’s.

13 Dec, 2022

A run of 7 straight mornings of low 30's has started according to WC..of course they are not that great at long predictions but its cold..patchy roof frost this morning. Pandanus unhappy. Sunny in the 50's.
I worry more that the rains will stop the rest of the month. I can put up with a rainy December for a watery June+...

13 Dec, 2022

The low here was 41 degrees again this morning, very possibly 39 or 40 degrees for tomorrow morning’s low.
Brrr 🥶 ! Then Thursday back into mid-40’s for lows.

I got the good news- we might be pushing 70f for Christmas. No sure if that's a record but must be close.

16 Dec, 2022

Yes, around 80 degrees here for Christmas. It was 70 degrees here today. Yay!!! I was getting really tired of the cold weather.

BTW: I posted a pic for you.

It was about ~60 yesterday and that was 5f more than predicted. Still a trio of cold mornings..but with upper 30's lows so safe. After that almost balmy by comparison. They backed off the almost 70 for Christmas to about 65f. I will take that.
My Aloes are all in bud..getting ready for GOY photos for the start of 2023.

It’s been in the mid-to-upper 60’s here, but still feels chilly. The lows have been in 41 to 45 definitely, so it definitely feels cold in the morning.

It’s forecasted to be upper 70’s here on Christmas. That’ll feel sooo good! 😂

The Aloes have been flowering here since late November. My Aeoniums are putting out their flower spikes now, also.
