Do you dead head this rose?

Does dead heading the rosa rugosa encourage more flowers? I see them near my father's bungalow, the gardeners on the residential estate where my Dad lives, do not dead head the rosa rugosas, and they seem to cease blooming after a month.......

Agree with Doctorbob - although the flowers are nice the huge rose hips are part of the plant's appeal.

And no, deadheading won't necessarily force more flowers on this particular rose. This plant is usually chosen for its impressive and beautiful hips anyway.

No you don't deadhead it. The Rosa Rugosa is grown for it's flowers and fragrance, after which the rose hips form and give a good show in the autumn when the leaves also change colour.
