Soapy water works well - set your squirter to max strength lol

A spray with a stong blast from the hose pipe will knock them off and squish them in the process.

Ive got hundreds of little flies in my greenhouse. I use soapy water spray and have also now resorted to sticky fly paper and every so often I go in and give all my plants a little shake and put them in the direction of the paper!!

Mookins - some of them might be algae knats - they are low fliers and I've found that the sticky paper traps are most effective if you place them really low down amoung the pots. I found if I hung them up higher I ended up catching beneficial hover flys and bees. :-(

Yes, I found that too. Put the sticky fly paper just above pot level. You can get small yellow sticky cards here too that you can use around your houseplants. Works really well for the fungus gnats.

I wish they had explained that on the packet Gilli - no info at all except to hang them up around the place. Would have trapped all kinds of things if I'd done that.

Nita - sticky tape wont deal with your greenfly problem - it just catches flying insects.

Soapy water!!!!!!!!! ;-) You don't want to become reliant on poisons when it comes to your edible crops....

Hi Nita...I have the same problem this year...ladybirds are greenflies' worst enemy but when can you ever find a bucketful of them when you want them?!
I had resorted to the 'chemical' option...or thought I had by using 'Bugclear' which worked very well...but when I read the label properly I found it is made up of something called pyrethrins which come from the chrysanthemum family.
So maybe it could work for you too?
